A township with a long history of offering residents the unparalleled ease that comes from connectivity - including the most recent commitment from the Victorian Government to invest over $2 billion into the improvement of level crossings and redevelopment of the train station - there is an innate sense of innovation and discovery entrenched in the local culture.

Taking cues from the sense of subversive wonder that demarcates a community founded upon modernising, Beaux challenges concepts of multi-residential living to offer residents homes that intuit the rituals of daily life. Moving beyond traditional concepts of space, the project cleverly blurs barriers between inside and out, to harmonise a duality of community and retreat.

An outward expression of the contemporary interiors that lay within, Beaux stands proudly, an example of what ensues when architectural excellence marries with modern design. The layered facade is ostensibly timeless, featuring a collection of classic materials that find harmony against the lush fabric of Murrumbeena’s serene streetscapes.

Generous terraces spill out from living areas, creating a sense of boundlessness while also adding an element of seamlessness between spaces. Punctuated by large, floor-to-ceiling glass doors framing external vistas, uniting inside with out, Beaux ensures that each iteration of life is bathed in a serene sense of calm.

Thoughtfully considered floorplans master the artful balance of convenience - between areas - and spaciousness.

The clever placement of windows and doors articulates a kind of seamlessness between internal and external spaces, whilst the continuity of materials throughout living areas similarly reverberates a distinct sense of connection.

A sophisticated and elegant palette of natural, robust materials have been used in Beaux kitchens that, along with the inclusion of ample storage, integrated fittings and quality fixtures, meld to create a distinctly modern, bright space that removes any tedium from mealtimes.

Echoing the same commitment to bright, generous space witnessed throughout Beaux, bathrooms are here defined by their elegant, clean lines and simple touches of luxury.

Large format tiles provide a crisp canvas which, along with suspended designer basins, modern mosaic feature tilings and impressive mirror, create a sense of modern sophistication.

Indicative of the idiom, ‘the city fringe’, Murrumbeena expressly straddles the outskirts of the CBD, imbuing the village-like image of the township with a markedly big-city feel.

A pocket of the world famed for its wide, treelined streets and the large expanses of parklands that provide the perfect backdrop for finding solitude, it would be easy to confuse this sense of sublime beauty with an image of being far-removed from the city and its colourless, artificial state. Yet has generated Melbourne’s reputation as a cultural vanguardist.

Just 15kms from Melbourne’s CBD, Murrumbeena is an outer-urban sanctuary. Offering the perfect balance between communal amenities, established parklands and modern delights, its enviable proximity to the convenience of major arterials and public transport means that residents of Beaux are well-placed to indulge in the best of both both worlds.

Stirred by the surge in Melbourne’s coffee-connoisseurs, Murrumbeena takes a decidedly contemporary approach to keeping locals caffeinated.

01. iron henry

A sure spot for a quality and hearty eating session, Iron Henry impresses first with its comforting rustic look, then with its alluring menu: jam packed with dishes you will want to re-live all weekend long. Come Saturday for the perfectly fried Southern Chicken Burger and return Sunday for a lazy, late brunch of Cornbread French Toast, topped with crispy bacon, a fried egg and drizzled in maple syrup.

02. nature boy

When you stumble upon a cafe whose namesake has been plucked from a Nick Cave song, you know you’re onto a good thing. The parallels end at the name though. Inside a light, Scandinavian-inspired minimalist aesthetic embodies everything Murrumbeena has been evolving towards: modern and unnervingly cool. Stylish mums with designer prams sit in a bevy, sipping perfectly frothed lattes, while uni students procrastinate over the distinctively ‘Melbourne’ menu.

03. brew

You’ll kick yourself for that last snooze of your alarm as you sprint by Brew to catch the Flinders’ Street train as it pulls into the station, the mouthwatering aroma of freshly ground beans teasing your nose. Perfectly placed just steps from the station, here convenience is matched by great coffee and classic dishes loaded with flavour.

04. murrumbeena station

Located within walking distance to the Murrumbeena Train Station, trains travel to and from the CBD and beyond with an almost ceremonial ease, making Beaux not only eminently liveable, but unparalleled in its location too.

Epitomising Murrumbeena’s attitude toward innovation and distinction, there is a natural bent in local schools being committed to developing curriculums modelled on nurturing curious and engaged minds. From local campuses such as Murrumbeena Primary to the internationally recognised giant Monash University, the suburb’s educational offerings stand shoulder-to-shoulder with some of the city and the world’s most renowned.

06. Bus No.624 & 822

Murrumbeena couldn’t have risen to its esteemed status as an outer-urban cultural leader without its strong network of accessibility. Fueling this connectivity is the convenience and reliability proffered from the two dedicated bus routes servicing the area. Directly carrying travelers to destinations as far-afield as Sandringham and Kew, with plentiful interchanges along the way, if you ever feel your feet start to itch, escaping is always an easy commute from Beaux.

07. murrumbenna park community

Murrumbeena Park is one of southeast Melbourne’s most popular playgrounds and it’s easy to see why. With different ‘zones’, a visit with the little ones can quickly turn into hours spent adventuring and exploring the expansive and engaging space. Offering various sheltered areas, toilets, BBQ’s and abounding in a thick carpet of grass, you will undoubtedly spend many a weekend here tracing out your own avenues of excitement.

08. murrumbenna park sports

If you prefer to spend your time out amongst nature with a bat or a ball in your hand, Murrumbeena Park also houses an expansive sports oval with cricket pitch, making it the ideal spot for a casual afternoon hit of cricket or toss of the footy. If your family comes boasting a little furry-friend, your pooch will be happy to know that they are warmly welcomed by the park also, offering a dedicated off-lead area for them to do all their doggy things without penalty.

09. boyd park

One of Beaux’s most distinguishing features is the distinct sense of being in a beautiful, but quaint town - wide treelined streets hold stunning homes, that are encased by lush generous blocks, and there is an unwavering sense of calm from the infinitely verdant parklands. One such example of these delightful oases is Boyd Park. One of the area’s most prolific green spaces, Boyd Park offers the prime pocket of greenery for residents to etch out their own path to retreat.

10. oasis bakery

A bakery come cafe, come grocery store, Oasis is the mecca for Middle Eastern food and produce in Melbourne. While breakfast dishes are instant salivary gland activators, it’s the Lebanese sausage roll (lamb kafta mixed with haloumi, nuts and berries, wrapped in wholemeal pastry) and homemade baklava with Nutella that has put this place on the map.

11. foodworks murrumbeena

When restocking the fridge is seen more as an adventure than a chore, cooking will become a joy and the food will always taste better. Luckily from Beaux, Foodworks is close at hand to meet all of your daily cooking, and of course, eating needs.

12. chadstone shopping centre

A glistening beacon for those needing some well deserved retail therapy, Chadstone’s some 500 boutique retailers offer the infinite opportunity to explore international and national icons without having to trek too far afield. Located mere minutes away from the shopping giant, Beaux is primely positioned to ensure that regardless of whether it’s your fridge, pantry or wardrobe that needs tending to, shopping will always be an ease.
